She portrayed Karen Walker on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace (1998-2006, 2017-2020) where she earned eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series winning twice in the years 2000 and 2006. As a result of her performance, she received nominations and several Awards. They included seven consecutive Screen Actors Guild Awards as Outstanding Performance by Female Actors in Comedy Series. One of Mullally's earliest appearances in a commercial was a McDonald's commercial which was a part of John Goodman. Mullally made her debut on The Ellen Burstyn Show, a series that aired in 1986. Her guest appearances include Seinfeld, Frasier, Wings Ned, Stacey Mad About You Caroline in the City 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Just Shoot Me! She was a principal character in the fifth season of Murder She Wrote's Miner Slaughter. She recalls that I was not working as long when I was stressed as I didn't know the best way to pay for rent. My agent called me one morning to inform me I had been invited to play a character on the show for $5,000. The agent I spoke to the other day to inform me I was offered an opportunity to play a guest. The role was worth the sum of $5,000. Jessica Fletcher's former protegee was my character.
